Pakistan Verses West Indies 5th ODI

After nail biting 4ODI’s between Pakistan and West Indies, the series reached its last game. It was decided that Pakistan couldn’t lose the series as Pakistan had won 2 ODI’s out of 4, while West Indies won only match and 1 game was snatched by West Indians as a tie. So till 5th ODI the game it was confirm that Pakistan couldn’t lose the series but West Indies by winning last match could draw the series. For Pakistan winning this series meant a lot because they had rough tour of ICC champions trophy where they lost all their matches and for West Indies losing in home was not acceptable.

The fifth game started WI batted first and got off to trembling start as they lost 2 quick wickets early in the innings but later they came strong and made 242 runs in 50 overs. The score wasn’t expected from WI as it was low scoring pitch. Pakistan started off well in chasing the target as Ahmad Shahzad and Nasir Jamshed gave them a flying start. Pakistan lost their first wicket at 50 runs. Hafeez came as one down and started playing confidently but got out on 11 runs and the total score at that time was 64. Pakistan needed a good partnership and then came the clam and cool captain Misbah ul Haq and he started playing his game but it was a bit faster than the first 3 ODI’s.

Ahamd Shahzad played a brilliant knock of 64 runs. When he got out Pakistan were 123-3 in 30.2 overs. Then came Haris Sohail and started to rotate the strike. Misbah was there on the crease like a wall. Haris got out on after scoring 17 runs and then came Umar Akmal who once again played a sensible innings along with Misbah and took Pakistan near to victory.

Umar Akmal got out on 37 runs and at that time Pakstan needed 17 of 13 balls. Afridi came and hit 13 runs in 2nd last over. In final over Pakistan needed 2 runs to win on first ball Afridi scored a single on 2nd ball Misbah got out. The score was tied and Ajmal came to bat and missed two balls. Pakistan needed 1 to win on two balls. Ajmal  hit the fift delivery straight to fielder and ran for a single direct hit would have easily got him out but yes fortune favors the brave. Pakistan won the last match and won the series by 3-1.
