How to get Driving Licence in Punjab – From Learner to Licence

The driving license permit system in Punjab province is under the command of Punjab traffic Police. Punjab Traffic Police has at present two wings that are based on Traffic Wardens that are employed in five districts of Punjab – Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala. Then there is general traffic police that is working remaining 31 districts of the Punjab province.

The matter of learner permit, regular driving license, international driving license, renewal of licence, duplicate licence and endorsement of licence in Punjab province are looked after by the Punjab Traffic Police.

Below is the process for getting learner permit and regular driving licence in Punjab.

Process for Learner Permit:

Learner Permits are issued by the Punjab Traffic Police on daily based with the validity of 06 months. Here is the process and terms and conditions for getting Learner Permit.

Age criteria for learner permit 

Motor Cycle/Motor Car                                 18 Years

LTV, Rikshaw, Tractor Commercial            21 Years

HTV                                                                    22 Years

Necessary documents required for learner permit

Following documents are required to be submit at the time of applying for the Learner Permit.

  • Copy of CNIC
  • Ticket of Rs. 60 for each category (issued by General Post Office and Learners Permit Office)
  • Medical certificate (issued by authorized medical practitioner)

Process for Regular Driving Licence

Following documents are required to be submit for regular driving licence

  • Copy of CNIC
  • 3 Passport size photographs
  • Medical certificate (issued by authorized medical practitioner)
  • Medical Fitness Certificate (only for the candidates of the age of 50 years or above)
  • Application form
  • Original learner permit (at least 42 days within validity period)
  • Paste relevant ticket on the document
