Web.PK Pakistan on Web – www.Web.Pk Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has launched Free Laptops Scheme for one lac shining student of Punjab,under which free laptops has been given away to bright students in the province.The motivation behind this scheme is to help students rise above problems they face in their path to gain knowledge. During a launch ceremony Mr. Sharif mentioned that Punjab Government spent Rs. 4billion for 110,000 free laptops, while another 300,000 laptops are likely to be approved for free give away next year. He also unveiled his plans for providing free internet connection at home for students, however, he said that procedures are being worked out to achieve the project.

To install Windows Operating System on Shahbaz Sharif’s Laptops follow these steps.
Go to Aptio Bios Setup by Pressing F2
In Bios Setup Move to Advanced.
Then move to the “SATA OPERATION “
Change ACHI to ATA. In “SATA OPERATION“
Then you will see a Warning select Yes.
Then click on Exit and select “save changes and Reset”

I hv done exactly the same …but after installation i got a blue screen error saying ur bios r not ACPI complaint ….so can u plz now tell me what should i do
tried each and every version of win 7 and tried many DVD,s just to make sure but no luck. then i try online for answers(on another PC)and found only a handful of answers most of which were not helping or just questions with no answers. Finally i found the solution.
IF you still have UBUNTO installed then follow these steps.
insert the DRIVERS & SOFTWARE cd and click on 'places' on upper left corner of desktop
copy all the disk on partition other then in which you want to install windows and eject the disk.
insert win 7 DVD
restart and keep pressing F2 soon after restart
go to advanced > SATA Operation. click enter > change the AHCI to ATA
press F10 > YES
system will restart automatically
a1. Press the F12 key soon after restart
a2. select BOOT sequence DVD/CD as first priority
a3. Delete and Format all the partition except the one in which you saved the software from drivers and software CD.
a4. choose the partition in which you want to install the windows and follow the steps.
a5. VERY IMPORTANT. after first restart, you will see a small pop up that asking for make and model of your laptop. DO NOT SKIP , keep pressing arrow until you see DELL and then enter N4050 in the empty box under the logo of DELL and press OK.
a6. when windows restart, press F2 again and DO NOT CHANGE THE ADVANCE SETTING, just change the boot sequence to hard drive as first priority > save and exit.
IF you have already deleted the Ubunto operating system:
boot from win 7 DVD and when you see option of start installing windows, click on another option which should be Repair windows.
when it prompt you to insert system restore or windows image file, press the browse button and eject the win 7 DVD.
insert the Driver CD then browse the CD and left click on the folder named "Educational software and Drivers Pack" and click copy. Now go back and browse some other partition and left click and Paste.(this will take more then 15 minutes to complete the paste)
after success full copy, install the window 7 by following (a1 to a6) steps
after installation and starting the windows it is time to install drivers.
go to the software folder which you copied.
no need to go in a sequence
just double click on files in every folder and click on OK,s (remember which architecture of window you are using . 32bit or 64bit ? ) because you don't need 32bit drivers in 64 bit version, they will simply not work.
when unzipping certain driver files you may get prompts to install the software immediate, don't be shy, go ahead and install.
no need to restart your computer after every single driver install, wait to finish all the installation then restart your computer.
The above method worked for me and I installed Windows 7 Enterprise.
Hope this information help you guys out.

Do not go for windows XP. Installing windows XP is not going to work on these laptops as you may not find any suitable drivers for windows XP to match with the hardware.
I suggest to install win 7 (64 bit)and it is better if you install ultimate or professional addition. I bought an ACTIVATED DVD of win 7 from market. Also remember that win 7 is also available in simple two CD pack which is totally crap so spend some money on a good DVD.
After installation my computer properties window looks like this

I tried installing Windows 7 over ubuntu, on this laptop. As soon as the installation finished. The laptop showed an error. I tried installing 7 thrice but invain. Now it keeps restarting or gives a blue screen. It shows a BIOS error. Please help me out.

To install Windows OS on Shahbaz Sharif's Youth Initiative Laptops follow these simple steps:
1. Get a Windows XP or Windows 7 DVD
2. Insert and power on your laptop
3. To remove Ubuntu you just need to remove partitions else you need to remove Linux greb.
4. So keep on partition manager during installation, delete all of them
5. Create partitions again with 3 partitions recommended i.e. 80GB, 100GB etc..
6. Select C: in Windows XP and Partition 2 in Windows 7 click next and have fun….

Dear respected sir i have replace ubunto window on window 7, i have made 3 partitioned in my hard drive one of them is 50 GB , 100 Gb and the last one is 150 Gb, but when the installatin complete. all the 3 local drive were presents but C, D were formated correctly but the last one of 150 Gb was not formated. when double click the local drive E, they give the option of formating the drive but as i click the formate option a blue screen came in front and window goes shut down,, when the system restarted again only drive C were present which have window.the ramaining two were absent .. i reinstall the window 7 .. after installation C and D were present the 3rd one is still absent. also dont show option of drive E or other free space on harddisk during installation. please help me

i got the same problem as many persons are talking about this. i have tried all possible solutions but no one worked. it is just the problem of windows which u people are using for installation. i have changed my windows and everything is working smoothly now. there is no other solution. just change the windows dvd.
